We at Sambhav, Nasha Mukti Kendra in Muzaffarnagar, believe that anything that we consume more than a limit is harmful to us for example if we take excessive food it will indirectly affect our body digestive system. Certain thing if we consume in a normal limit works as a medicine in our body, but when we use it in high limits it becomes harmful or even a poisoinous drug to our body. If we start regularly using it, it starts controlling our body and brain, when the choice of substance is not available, person shows psychological defects in characters which gives harmful side effects and leads to compulsive craving stage. When a person becomes unstable mentally and physically, he is not in a normal state showing many character defects like anger, self isolation,crictism, this shows his dependency on drug and this phenomena , this is known as addiction.
Many substances like opium, cocaine,heroin, hallucinogens, smoked substances, injectable substances and alcohol are such things, if a person is relying on these to perform daily activities or he needs it everyday to start or end his day then it’s time to think because he is not in right direction, he is in a trap of disease known as addiction declared many years back that addiction slowly starts killing a person leading to premature death. During addiction, the addict becomes a threat to himself and to his family and overlooked as a social threat also to the society. The substance holds proper control over his body, soul and mind, that’s why if an addict has high willingness to quit alcohol or his choice of drug, he always fails. He becomes powerless in front of his addiction and it is very shocking to say that in this modern era of science and technology there is no medicine that can cure this disease.
To overcome this problem there is a place where addicts are treated properly to start a new life ahead to make them a normal person again and they are known as Rehabilitation centres.
